George William Hill married Amanda Goodall on 28 July 1876 at Parker County, Texas. The couple moved to Young County, Texas following their marriage making their home on a tract of land which he had bought near Eliasville. The couple engaged in stock raising until his retirement from active business in 1920.

George William Hill, 83, came to Texas as a boy with his family in 1856 and settled in Parker County, Texas. in 1876, the family moved to Stephens County, four miles north of the present community of Eliasville. Before the presence of oil was found in Stephens County, he and his wife set up a ranching enterprise which prospered to the point that he became a landowner and stockman of general respect. After oil was discovered on the Hill property, the family built a home in Eliasville, where he raised a family of nine children.

George William Hill passed away at the home of his daughter, Ada Amanda Kirtley, in Graham, Texas.

Services were held at the Eliasville Methodist Church officiated by the pastor, Rev. E.D. Ellis assisted by Rev. O.A. Martz, Dr. Austin, and Rev. Ross. For more than 50 years, George William Hill was a member of the Methodist Church, he had been affiliated with the Masonic Lodge since a young man. George William Hill was a charter member of the Crystal Falls Masonic Lodge.

Contributed by eight children - S.R. Hill, Mrs. Mollie Smith, Mrs. Laura Smith, Mrs. W.P. Smith, John Hill, Roy Hill, Tom Hill, Mrs. Ada Amanda Kirtley; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three nieces; five nephews.

Ten of Mr. Hill's grandsons were pallbearers: Finis Smith, King Smith, C.T. Hill, Roy Smith, Dillon Smith, Joe Smith, Truman Smith, Travis Smith, Burton Kirtley, Wesley Hill.
