Born at Berlin, Canada, Aug. 15, 1845, Sales was married near there more than 50 years ago to Miss Katherine Smith. They came to the Gallatin valley not long after they were married.
Survivors include the widow, Katherine Sales; six children, Enoch of Manhattan, Mrs. Ed (Hattie) F. Cowan of Bozeman, Mrs. John (Maggie) Cook of Bozeman, Oscar of Bozeman Route 1, Mrs. Earl (Ida) Robbins of Manhattan and Charles of Bozeman; a sister and brother in Canada and 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Sales was a cousin of the late Allen Sales, Bozeman police chief.
The remains are at the Dokken Funeral Home pending arrangements.

Printed in the Belgrade Centennial in 1986: Charles Alfred and Katherine Smith Sales came to Montana in 1880 from Ontario, Canada. They settled four miles from Belgrade where they purchased the old Johnnie Lewis ranch of 600 acres. Mr. Sales farmed and raised cattle and work horses. He raised mainly wheat, oats and barley.
