MATTOON - Edith E. Taube, 87, of Mattoon, formerly of Homer, died at midnight Thursday (Feb. 24, 2005) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer. The Rev. Steve Burwell will officiate. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Homer. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Taube was born Sept. 28, 1917, in Homer, a daughter of William and Fannie Pruitt Bear. She married Luther Kiest in Homer. She later married Paul Taube in April 1959, in Homer. He survives. Survivors also include two sons, Larry Kiest of Charlotte, Tenn., and Don Kiest of Sallisaw, Okla.; two daughters, Gypsy Beck of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Billie Jones of Belvidere; a stepson, Richard Taube of Sherman, Texas; a stepdaughter, Rose Cofone of New Brunswick, N.J.; a sister, Naomi Shaw of Champaign; 13 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two sisters.
