August 1987 Fannie Griffet, 89, of Homer died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 8, 1987) at Lakeside Manor Nursing Home, Mattoon. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Kirby Funeral Home, Homer, the Rev. William Hall officiating. Burial was in G.A.R. Cemetery, Homer. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Griffet was born June 2, 1898, in Hazelpatch, KY, a daughter of Henry and Amanda Pruitt. She first married William Bear and later married Lewis Griffet. Both men preceded her in death. Survivors include four daughters, Edith Taube of Mattoon, Ruby Montgomery of Homer, Naomi Shaw of Champaign and Patricia Wick of Florida; a son Michael Griffet of Champaign; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a stepson, Jack Bear of Homer; and three brothers, Albert Pruitt of Homer, Charles Pruitt of Oakwood and Fred Pruitt of Newman. She was preceded in death by a daughter and four brothers. Memorial may be made to G.A.R. Cemetery, Homer.
