Son of Richard and Charlotte West Doughty. According to a January 21, 1960 Jena Times article, Jase's daughter Lillie reported that he came to the Rhinehart area at the age of 14. He married Bianca Etta Smith in Pine Grove Church November 27, 1871. Father of fourteen: William Richard, Mary Etta, Arch Tilton, Robert Lee, Thomas Jefferson "Wheeler", Jason Leonard Jr. "Buck", Chester Arthur, Margaret Elouise "Maggie", Martha Jane "Maggie", Minnie Bell, Ada Viola, James Everett, Lillie Mae and Olivia "Levi" Bianca.

Final rites Held For J.L. Doughty Tuesday, Oct. 12
Jason Leonard Doughty, age 95, one of LaSalle Parish's oldest, best known and most beloved residents, passed away Monday, October 11, at 8:45 a.m. His death was attributed to heart failure.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 12, at pine Grove. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery. The Rev. J.P. Owens, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Jena, officiated.
Mr. Doughty's great grandfather came from Ireland and settled in Virginia. He later moved to Louisiana. Reuben Doughty, Mr. Doughty's grandfather, settled in Catahoula Parish. His father, Richard, was also a resident of Catahoula Parish.
Mr. Doughty was born at Parhams, La., on October 16, 1852. In 1871 he married the former Etta Bianca Smith at Rhinehart. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Doughty lived in and around Jena.
Mr. Doughty, who was known to almost everyone as "Uncle Jas," and his wife, "Aunt Bianca," last year celebrated their 75th wedding annivarsary, an account of which was carried in newspapers over the entire United States.
"Uncle Jas," was active until his death which occurred at his home just after he had returned from town with garden seed to plant his garden.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, William R. doughty, Sulphur Springs, Texas, James E. Doughty, and six daughters, Miss Lillie Doughty, Mrs. Olivia Wilson, Mrs. Mary Spinks, Mrs. Mattie Smith, Mrs. Minnie Arthur and Mrs. Ada Hanes.
He is also survived by three sisters, 72 grand children and 137 great grandchildren.
