Joseph D. Clark, 69, died Saturday, May 4, 1996, at his home in Lovell after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 6, 1926 in Burlington, Wyo., the sone of Sheldon Joseph and Emma Meecham Clark. He grew up in the Big Horn Basin and spent most of his life in this area. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served as a paratrooper in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters. After his discharge, he returnedd to Wyoming where he worked as a heavy equipment operator and welder, most recently with Wyo-Ben company.

He married Carol Folkerts in August of 1969 and they made their home in Lovell for the past 25 years.

Mr. Clark loved hunting, fishing and camping, and particularly enjoyed repairing almost anything and building projects.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lovell.

Survivors include his wife Carol of Lovell; four sons Daniel Clark of Denver, Sheldon Clark of Basin, Mark and Tony Clark both of Cody; three brothers Bill Clark of Byron, Jay Clark of Ralston, and John Clark in Wyoming; and seven sisters Ila Tuttle of Basin, Irma Rubis of Worland, Velma Lynch of Hudson, Vella Kelley of Basin, Irene Yetter of Thermopolis, Viola Mills and Mona Clark both of Cody.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.

Haskell Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
