William Dwin Clark Sr. was born on June 29, 1938 in Burlington. He dided on Nov. 13, 2002 of complications from diabetes and renal failure. He was the 15th of 16 children born to Sheldon Joseph Clark and Emma Amanda (Mecham) Clark.

There were eight girls and eight boys in the family. Bill worked on ranches as a young boy, and on some of the farms around Burlington. His older brothers often took him to whatever ranch they were working on at the time, during summer breaks.

Bill's father died when he was nine, so the younger boys had to help on the home place at Burlington. He joined the Navy at age 17 and spent his tour on the aircraft U.S.S. Lexington in the Pacific.

He worked many jobs--truck driving, grounds keeper, dairy herdsman in Hawaii. He enjoyed working in the drilling industry best of all, from Utah to all parts of wyoming. He liked the excitement of bringing in a good well and seeing new country.

Mr. Clark finally put down permanent roots in Byron in 1984. His last job was with the Wyoming Game and Fish as construction foreman on the Yellowtail Wildlife Habitat Unit. He was injured on the job and was on disability starting in 1996. Bill enjoyed anything outdoors: camping, fishing, riding his horse, or just plain driving around looking for wildlife.

He enjoyed guns and shooting, giving up on teaching Candy his wife to ever hit anything smaller than a barn door. He also liked helping people; he was always on call if someone needed an extra pair of hands or just wanted to pass the time of day.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and seven sisters.

He is survived by his wife,Candy, of the family home in Byron; son, William Clark Jr. (Manuela), and granddaughter Tiffany, of Reichelsheim, Germany; his daughter, from a previous marrige, Kimberly (David) Heiser, and granddaughter Stephanie of Laurel, Mont.; sister, Velma Lynch of Hudson, brother Jay (Judy) Clark of Ralston, and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lovell, Wed., Nov. 20th 2002 where Bill was a member. A gathering celebrating Bill's life was at the family home in Byron, following the service.
