JOHN HENRY ZUENDEL
3-3-1853 -- 5-4-1933

John Henry Zuendel, aged 80 years, a lifelong and highly respected resident of Kingsley Twp., died at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 4, 1933, at his home near Starr post office.

Death was caused by a stroke of apoplexy. Members of the family found his body in the yard near his home, where he had been working. He was the last of five sons and two daughters born to the late Henry A. and Anna Christina Zuendel Zuendel, early settlers on German Hill. He was born there March 3, 1853, in the old Zuendel homestead. He cleared the farm on which he lived his entire life, following the occupation of farming.

He was a member of the Evangelical church at Starr all of his lifetime. He was a loving husband and father and made friends wherever he went. He will be missed at home and throughout the community where he was widely known.

He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Dorcas Zuendel, to whom he was united in marriage in June, 1879. She passed away March 31, 1887. Of the four children born to them, two survive: Mrs. Anna Littlefield of Endeavor and Mrs. Emma Confer of Starr.

On Nov. 14. 1899, he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Ann Frill of Lickingville, who survives him, with one daughter, Mrs. Marian Bean of Starr.

Funeral services in his memory were held in the Evangelical church at Starr at 2:00 PM
Saturday, the Rev. LeRoy Loveless of Lickingville officiating, assisted by the pastor of the Starr church. Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Dear father, thou hast left us,
We have seen thee leave our side.
But with Jesus we will meet thee
When we too have crossed the tide.
