THE BAYLOR COUNTY BANNER March 5, 1909
M.F. SLAUGHTER
The subject of this sketch died on Thursday Feb 18, 1909 and was buried Friday in the Seymour cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.M. Lane of the Methodist church. Mr. Slaughter had been afflicted for a long time with Bright's disease. He went to Hot Springs, Arkansas, some time ago and was much benefitted. Coming back, however, he caught cold on the train and had been going down steadily since then.
The deceased came here about two years ago from Johnson county and had lived the past year on the Wiggins place west of town. He was formerly from Alabama and was from a prominent family. He leaves a wife and seven grown boys. His brother, J. W. Slaughter, a prominent citizen of Dallas, together with his wife, and also a son of Mr. Slaughter, were here to attend the funeral. The BANNER extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives.

Thanks to Diana Bryan Quinn for providing this obituary from her private collection of articles from the Banner.
