J. R. (Jim) Slaughter, 70, 4830 Lindsley, died Saturday. Born in Alabama, resident of Dallas 50 years. Survived by wife, Mrs. Gertrude Slaughter; son, J. Harold Slaughter; four brothers, Mallory C. and Eric Slaughter, all of Dallas; D. T. and E. E. Slaughter, Plainview; three sisters, Mrs. Effie Parker, Talladega, Alabama; Mrs. Ora Baird, Wheeler; Mrs. Homer Vaughan, Hayden, Arizona; aunt, Mrs. Gordon Meadows, Birmingham; uncle, J. W. Slaughter, Dallas. Remains will lie in state from 3 to 4 p. m. Monday at St. John's Methodist Church, at which latter time services will be held. Pallbearers: John T. Strickland, Tom Frances, Ray Cathey, P. J. Pederson, R. B. Pelton, J. E. Frank. Honorary pallbearers: Dr. N. J. Harris, Ira McColister, Howard Simmons, W. W. Calhoun, R. C. T. Jacobs, Harvey West, George and Charlie Karlen, and board of stewards, St. John's Methodist Church. Interment in Grove Hill Memorial Park.
