Martha Louise Matz, age 86, a former town of Almon resident, died Sunday, June 7, 1998 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.

She was born October 6, 1911 in the town of Almon, the daughter of the late Albert and Jenny (Treehouse) Klitzka.

Martha was united in marriage to Carl Matz, Sr. on August 25, 1931 in the town of Almon. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1989.

Survivors include six children, Marie (Floyd) Ross, Bowler, Esther (Jim) Bouwens, Birnamwood, Carl (Ella) Matz, Jr., Green Bay, Eugene (Elsie) Matz, Birnamwood, Harvey (Charlotte) Matz, Wittenberg, and Chet (Sharon) Matz, Eland; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Arnold (Alice) Matz, Wittenberg; one sister-in-law, Lila Klitzka, Tigerton; also numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Marvin, five brothers, Fred Klitzka, Robert Klitzka, August Klitzka, Lawrence Klitzka and Otto Klitzka, one sister, two grandchildren, Glenn Ross and Linda Ross and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held June 10, 1998 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Clifford Kessen officiated. Interment was in the Town of Almon Cemetery.
