Martin J. Mattingly, age 63, of Hammond, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 1979 at St. Margaret Hospital. Survivors: wife, Gertrude (nee McCauley); two daughters, Beverly Lynn and Donna (William) Biller, both of Hammond; three sons, Kenneth (Susan) Mattingly of Hammond, George (Nina) Mattingly of Munster, Louis (Sue) Mattingly of Hebron; 17 grandchildren; five sisters, Nora (Frank) Thebault of Hammond, Nettie (Henry) Theboult of Lansing, Justine (Ted) Evert of Lansing, Sadie Wheatley of Akron, Ohio, Celeste Abell of Lebanon, Ky.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7, 9:15 a.m. at the Anthony and Dziadowicz Funeral Home, 9445 Calumet Ave., at 45th St., Munster, 10 a.m. Mass at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Hammond, with Rev. Dominic Pallone officiating. Burial: Memory Lane Cemetery, Schererville. Friends may call at the chapel, Monday, 7 to 9, Tuesday, 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, 7 p.m. Mr. Mattingly had been a Hammond resident for the past 42 years, an employee of American Oil Co. of Whiting with 37 years service.
