Registered for the World War I draft at Marion County, Kentucky on June 5, 1917 and stated his name as Edward Ivon Mattingly but signed it Ivo Mattingly. He gave his date and place of birth and said he was living at RFD 2, Lebanon, single and a farmer. He described himself as tall and slender built with grey eyes and black hair.

His obituary, forwarded by Dolores Bohn, was in The Louisville Courier-Journal, Saturday, 3-02-1968.

"MATTINGLY, MR. E. IVO passed away in his 74th year Wed., Feb. 28, 1968. Residence 1132 Fischer Ave. Brother of Mrs. Celeste Abell, of Lebanon, Ky., Mrs. Sadie Wheatley, Akron, Ohio, Mr. Hubert Mattingly, of Lansing, IL., and Mr. Oscar Mattingly, Lebanon, Ky. Half-brother of Mrs. Justine Lee, Mrs. Nora Theboult, Mrs. Nettie Theboult, Martin, Patrick and Ernest Mattingly, all of Hammond, Ind. Mr. Mattingly is resting at the Oak St. home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 1201 E. Oak, where services will be conducted Monday, March 4, at 8:30 A.M. and at St. Theresa Church 9 A.M. Interment St. Stephen's Cemetery. Friends may kindly visit after 6 P.M. Saturday. Marion County papers please copy."

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Celeste Abell, Lebanon, Ky., and Mrs. Sadie Wheatley, Akron, Ohio, and two brothers, Hubert Mattingly, Lansing, IL., and Oscar Mattingly, of Lebanon, Ky. The funeral will be at 9 A.M. Monday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Schiller & Kentucky with burial in St. Stephen Cemetery. The body will be at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home, 1201 E. Oak, after 6 P.M. Saturday."
