MRS. NELL PAXTON
Mrs. Nell Nabers Paxton, 96, of 660 Jolley Road, Calhoun died Saturday, Mary 15, 1999 at 4:40 a.m. at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born in Gordon County on Sept. 20, 1902, daughter of the late William Parker Nabers and Luther Strain Nabers Acree. She had resided in Gordon County, except for her married years, which she spent in Canon City, Colo., returning to Calhoun in 1975. Prior to her retirement, she was associated with the telephone company for more than 37 years. She was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church, Telephone Pioneers, Hillhouse Garden Club, and Hill City Homemakers. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Paxton, in 1971; a sister, Jewell Bailey Barton, and three brothers, Parker and Maurice Nabers and Robert Acree.
Survivors include two step-daughters, Lois Lampert of Cape Coral, Fla., and Edith Marable of New Mexico; a step-son, William Paxton of California; three stepgrandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and three devoted sitters.
Funeral was Tuesday, May 18, at 2 p.m. at Calhoun First Baptist Church, with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment was in Fain Cemetery. Great-nephews served as pallbearers.
Clifford Free Funeral Home of Calhoun was in charge of arrangements.
