Ruth Laverne Tidwell was born November 15, 1930 to Walter and Tacie Carney in rural Depew, Oklahoma. She departed this life March 17, 2022 at the age of 91.

She was a 1950 graduate of Bristow High School. On January 1, 1950 Ruth Carney and Roland Tidwell were united in marriage. To this union were born four children. They enjoyed over 59 years together before his passing June 30, 2009.

Roland and Ruth moved back to Bristow in 1978 to Pastor the Trinity Baptist Church. She loved serving the church and assisting her husband doing the Lord's work. Ruth was the picture of what Godly servanthood looked like. She fully embraced her role as wife, pastors wife, mother, and "Granny Ruth". She loved her family dearly and was always available to help no matter what the need was. She loved and was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by three children, one brother, one sister, seven grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and one on the way; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Jaylene Blythe and ten siblings.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Hutchins-Maples Matherly Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Trinity Baptist Church.
