The relatives and friends of Mr. Casaby Allen are invited to attend his funeral services on Monday, August 29, 2011 at two o'clock p.m. at CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from five until seven o'clock p.m. at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.
Casaby was born on September 21, 1917 , in Screven, GA, a son to the late Ransome B. and Anna Howard Allen.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, known to many as "Papa" or "Grand-dad" and was a father to many others.
He was an avid gardener at his home in Ladson, growing his peaches, blueberries and watermelons. He liked to refinish furniture and build bird houses for his favorite birds, Purple Martins.
Casaby worked in Charleston at Virginia Carolina Corporation which became Albright Wilson, retiring after 30 years with the company when it was known as Mobile Chemical Company.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Allen, a son Billy Allen and a daughter Linda Furst. Survivors include his daughter, Annette Preacher and her husband Leon, of Ruffin, SC; a son, Jack R. Achord Jr. and his wife Marie of Ridgeville, SC; 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.
