She was born in Charleston on April 12, 1920, to the late William Kestler and Pearl Hayward Kestler.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, and took care of her grandchildren Bobby, Marie, and Danny and was "Mom" to them for several years.
Dorothy was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Charleston. She loved flowers and gardening, and was a very good cook. She also loved to cut grass.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband: Casady Allen of Ladson; daughters: Linda Furst and husband Nick of Summerville and Annette Preacher and husband Leon of Ruffin; son: Jack Achord and wife Marie of Ridgeville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sisters: Vivian Huckabee, Margaret Kolb, and Edna White, and by her brother: William Kestler.
