James Morgan was born in Mercer county, Illinois, July 4, 1846, and passed away at his home in Rochester, Ia., Feb. 10, 1925, aged 78 years, 7 months, and 4 days.
He was married to Melinda Dennison of Linn county, Iowa, July 3, 1868, who survives him. To this union eight children were born. The eldest, Jesse, died in infancy. Those surviving are: Frank of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ida Rogers of St. Louis, Mo.; William of Tipton, Mrs. Mae Walker of Rock Island, Ill.; Alfred of Conesville, Ia.; Mrs. Myrtle Burr of this vicinity and Ray of Muscatine, Ia. There are 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who also survive.
Mr. Morgan was a kind, loving husband and father, always willing to do anything for the comfort of his family. He was an honest, upright citizen and neighbor, respected by all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted at the Rochester Church on Thursday afternoon by the Rev. A.W. Straub and interment was made in teh Rochester cemetery.

We wish to thank our friends and neighbors, especially Mrs. John Bair and Frank Conley, for their kindness and sympathy, also the Ladies' Aid for their assistance during the illness and death of our husband and father, also all who sent the beautiful flowers.
