Melinda, daughter of Jonathan and Sarah Dennison, passed away at the home of her son, Alfred Morgan, at Rochester Sunday evening, August 24, 1930, at about 9:30 o'clock, after an illness of two weeks. She was born at Center Point, Linn county, Ia., August 10, 1851, being 79 years and 14 days old at the time of her death.
She was united in marriage July 3, 1868, to James Morgan who preceded her in death six years ago. To this union seven children were born: Frank of Minneapolis, Minn.; William of Springdale, Ia.; Mrs. May Walker of Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Myrtle Burr of Rochester, Ia.; Alfred of Rochester, Ray of Muscatine, Ia., and Mrs. Ida Rogers of Wilton Junction, Ia. There are also sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother living.
The earlier part of their married life was spent in and around Center Point, Ia. Later they came to Rochester, where they resided until Mr. Morgan's death six years ago. Since then she has made her home with her children.
She has been a most loving and devoted Christian mother and neighbor. She was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need.
Grandma Morgan, as she was familiarly known by all, will be greatly missed, as she always had a kind word for everyone.
