Kenneth "K. P." Ring, 96 a resident of the Cave City Nursing Home since 2005 died Saturday afternoon, March 13, 2010 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville.

He had lived in this area all of his life.
He was born February 9, 1914 at Emery, Arkansas, the son of L. E. Ring and Callie Pinkston Ring.
He attended Center Hall School at Emery, Cave City, Evening Shade, and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1935. He married Adelaide Ortha Christenberry Ring July 2, 1939. They were married 63 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served from May, 1944 to December 1945 in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific Theater of Battle.
He was a 1951 graduate of Arkansas College in Batesville and received a master's degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1967. He taught school 40 years, beginning with one-room school houses at 104 School, near Charlotte and Etna, near Mount View, east of Cave City. He also taught at Grange, Poughkeepsie, Cave City from 1946 – 1955 and served as Strawberry School High School Principal and teacher from 1955 – 1959; Cave City High School Principal from 1959 – 1975, for a total of 25 years with the Cave City School System, retiring in May 1976. He taught math, science, biology, chemistry, physics, algebra, and geometry.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors. He was a member and served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and BTC teacher, and song leader at Ring's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 63 years continuous member of the American Legion Post 185 of Cave City; member of the Sharp County Farm Bureau and past board member and director of Sharp County Civil Defense. Memorial holidays he placed flags at Parsley Cemetery, McAdams Cemetery, Sullivan Cemetery, Barnett Cemetery, and some years Rodgers Cemetery.

Kenneth is survived by six children: Joy (Mary Joyce) Ring of Walnut Ridge, Earl Douglas Ring and wife, Mary of Houston, Texas, Roberta Hutchison and husband, Charles "Hutch" of Cave City, Linda Ring of Cave City, Wilma Richter and husband, Robert of Little Rock and Ivetta Black and husband, Harry of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Stephen Ring of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lisa Polley and husband, Brian of Burleson, Texas, Robert Ring and wife, Parsla of Houston, Texas, Shadrach Black and wife, Melissa of West Africa, and Matthan Black and wife, Kate of Wichita, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Scott Pollcy, Brennan Shelton Polley, Braden Schaum Polley, and Lauren Marie Polley of Burleson, Texas, Hezekiah "KI" Adam Black, Miriam Lynn Black, Joy Christine Black, and Silas Gordon Black of West Africa, and Adele Katrina Ring of Houston, Texas; one step-great-granddaughter, Alicia Gann Smith and step-great-great-grandchildren, Gared, Heather, and Morgan of Texas; two brothers, John L. Ring of Kokomo, Indiana, Dewey N. Ring of Deland, Florida; four sisters, Lanelle Nolen of Little Rock, Iva Nelson of Dallas, Texas, Betty Lockwood of El Cajon, California, Sue Johnson of Greenbrier, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Adelaide Ring; three brothers, Oal O. Ring, Clifton Ring, and Virgil Ring; and three sisters, Mona Cornell Whited, Ollie Coleen Sullivan and Gladys Key.

Funeral services were held at Ring's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church east of Cave City with Rev. Harry Black, Rev. Dewey Ring, Rev. Terry Johnson, and Rev. Royce Ford officiating. Burial was at Parsley Cemetery by Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Matthan Black, Jim Hanson, Scott Key, Walter Key, Rodney Lockwood, Andy Nelson, Greg Nolen, John Nolen, Robert Nolen, Danny Ring, Gary Ring, John M. Ring, Mark Ring, Mike Ring, Neal Ring, Ricky Ring, Robert E. Ring, Robert N. Ring, Robert O. Ring, and Stephen Ring.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Brown, Steven Green, Mac King, Michael Mobley, Ronald Mobley, Tom Penn, Marc Walling, All the Directors and Employees of the Cave City Nursing Home; and Dr. Greg Neaville and Staff of White River Diagnostic Clinic.
