A native of Emery, Arkansas, he was a son of the late L. E. Ring and Callie Pinkston Ring, a US Navy veteran, a retired church planter starting churches in Mississippi, Florida, Arizona and Arkansas. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife; four sons, Robert Ring (Carole) of Greenville, Mike Ring (Tammy) of Brazil, Mark Ring of Taylors and Dr. Dewey Neal Ring, Jr. (Beth) of Greenville; three sisters, Betty Lockwood of California, Iva Nelson of Texas and Sue Johnson of Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Nathan Ring (Sarah), Natalie Perkins (Josh), Noel Ring, Nicholas Ring (Lilian), Nikayla Ring, Robert Ring, Katherine Ring, Megan Ring, Carissa Ring and Sophia Ring; and six great-grandchildren, Mordecai Ring, Micaiah Ring, Moriah Ring, Nathan Ring, Jr., Melody Perkins and Kay Marie Perkins.
He was also predeceased by five brothers, Kenneth Ring, Oal Ring, Clifton Ring, John Ring and Virgil Ring; and four sisters, Cornell Whited, Collen Sullivan, Lanelle Nolen and Gladys Key.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017, at Fellowship Baptist Church. 614 Ikes Road, Taylors, SC, conducted by Pastor Bryce Hager and Pastor Earl Green.
Visitation will be held 9:45-10:45 a.m. Monday at Fellowship Baptist Church.
Burial will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2017, in M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran Cemetery, 140 Inway Drive, Anderson, SC 29621.
