CAVE CITY – Clifton O. Ring, 82, of Evening Shade died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at a Batesville hospital.

Born May 4, 1919, at Emery, he was the son of Lindsey Ellet and Ivy Callie Pinkston Ring. He was a retired high school math teacher having taught for 38 years, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Norma Crigler Ring; two sons, Gary Edward Ring of Strawberry and Robert Ring of Evening Shade; four brothers, Kenneth P. Ring of Cave City, Oal Ring of Hardy, John L. Ring of Kokomo, Ind., and Dewey Ring of North Little Rock; six sisters, Lanelle Nolen of Roland, Ollie Colene Sullivan of Conway, Gladys Key of Tomball, Texas, Iva Nelson of Dallas, Betty Lockwood of El Cajon, Calif., and Sue Johnson of Greenbrier; a grandson, Chad Edward Ring of Cave City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Virgil Ring; and a sister, Mona Cornell Ring Whited.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Robert Hutchison officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery at Poughkeepsie.

Pallbearers will be Rick Ring, Earl Douglas Ring, John Michael Ring, James Hanson, Charles Hutchison, Noble Crigler, Gary Ring, Robert Ring and Chad Ring.
