Funeral services for Lela M. Ward, 83, of East Moline, are 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, East Moline.
Burial is at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time. A memorial fund has been established.
Lela died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Park View Terrace, East Moline.
She was born April 5, 1926, in Ray, Ill., daughter of Homer and Bertha Lincoln Skiles. She married Marcus J. Ward on March 16, 1946, in Rushville. He died Jan. 13, 1990.
Lela had worked at the former F.W. Means. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Lela enjoyed listening to music and her little dog, Bobo.
Survivors include her children, Crystal Hast, Port Byron, Sandra Ward, Peoria Heights, Ill., Rick Ward, East Moline, Michael Ward, San Jose, Calif., Steven Ward, San Jose, and Mark Ward, Moline; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hilli Walters, Oquawka, Ill., and Dorothy Lang, Geneseo; and a brother, Robert Skiles, Oquawka. She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Mildred Gillenwater; and brothers, Jesse Skiles and Lyle Skiles.
