Edward Antene, 93, the sixth child of twelve children to John and Emma Sleder Antene, was born in Traverse City, Michigan May 18, 1891. He died Dec. 4, 1984 at the Ottawa County Hospital in Minneapolis after a lengthy illness.

He spent most of his life in Ottawa county. He returned to the Ada community while an infant with his family. As a young man he spent some time on a homestead near Glasgow, Montana before World War I. On Dec. 4. 1917. he enlisted in the American Expeditionary Force Signal Corps at Fort George Wright Washington.

At the time of his marriage to Betty Saunders in St. Mark's Church of England, Pennington, England, Ed was a cook in the 1109th Aero Squadron, United States Army. They were married Oct. 31, 1918.

Following the end of World War I, Ed and Betty returned to the U.S.A. and began farming west of Delphos. He was a farmer-stockman, active in farm related activities until World War II, when they moved to Delphos where he operated the Antene Real Estate and Insurance Agency, until his retirement 20 years later.

Ed was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt, enjoyed all sports and especially enjoyed domino games. He enjoyed his home, family and friends.

Mr. Antene was preceded in death by a daughter lona Betty and his wife Betty.

He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis and husband K Cook of Burlingame, and Merle June Davies of Toledo, WA; four sisters, Ella Bruce, Connie Chapman and Leola Bradbury, ail of Minneapolis and Violet Yager of Oklahoma City. OK; grandchildren, Bob and Jackye Merryweather of Marshalltown, IA, Ed and Pat Martin of Abilene, Mike and Pam Werth of Castle Rock, WA. Gary and June Wells of
Fremont, CA, David and Denise Pumphrey of Concord, CA, Greg and Gail Martin of Minneapolis and Mark and Debbie Rubon of Seattle, WA; 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 7, 1984 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shields Funeral Home in Minneapolis with the Rev. Larre Eschliman officiating. Casket bearers were Richard Comfort, Jim Shirley, Harlan Pilcher, John Nace, Marvin P. Alderson and William Anderson. Interment was in the Delphos Cemetery.
