Everal A. Chowning, 56, died Tuesday of an apparent heart attack while in downtown Portland on a business trip. Chowning was a former resident of Centralia currently making his home in Waldport, Ore. Mr. Chowning was born July 20, 1910, in Lexington, Wash. He was a member of the Centralia First Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Infantry. In addition, he was a member of the Coquille, Ore., VFW. Survivors are three brothers, Noble H., Milwaukie, Ore., Noel A., and Harry C. Chowning, both of Albany, Ore.; his father, Thomas A. Chowning, Selah; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery, Centralia, with the Rev. Herbert E. Miller officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sticklin Funeral Home, Centralia.
