According to a telegram received by Mrs. S. C Fields, Arthur A. Fields was killed by a log rolling over him on April 20, 1903 in Townsend TN. According to another telegram received by Mrs. Fields, the body was shipped from Knoxville, TN on the morning of April 21, 1903 at 9:30 a.m.

Arthur was the brother of Lizzie Fields Wharton and Rosa Fields.

On October 5, 1902 Arthur was staying at the Cumberland Inn in LaFollette, TN and wrote a letter to Rosa. He signed the letter "Your Bro Arthur".
