Charles Harrison Fields, 82, of 701 Chestnut Street, died at 5:45 p.m. yesterday shortly after being admitted to St. Leo's Hospital. He had been ill for only a short time.

Formally associated with the Greensboro Hardware Company, He was a retired employee of Vick Chemical Company. He had been a member of the Buffalo Presbyterian Church since 1890 and was ordained an elder in 1909. He was a native of Guilford County. He was a member of Modern Woodmen and Cone Lodge of the Knights of Pythias.

He is survived by one daughter, Virginia Fields of the home, and one sister, Mrs. Carl L. Wharton of Greensboro.

Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Rev A. P. Dickson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Hanes Funeral Home until taken to the residence at 5 p.m. today. It will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
