Mrs. Sarah Catherine Fields, 90, who was the oldest member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church, died of a heart attack Saturday night at her home, 701 Chestnut Street, following illness of three weeks.
Funeral service was conducted at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at Buffalo Presbyterian Church by the pastor, Rev. A P. Dickerson and Rev S. M. Rankin, Presbyterian evangelist. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Fields was born in Guilford County, a daughter of Paul and Lavinia Rankin Coble, of the Alamance Church Community. in 1863 she was married to C. Harrison Fields, whose death occurred in 1902. Surviving are seven children, Mrs. W. M. Moore and J. Henry Fields, of Route 5; Charles H. Fields, of 701 Chestnut Street; William P. Fields and Mrs. Philip Rowzie, of Richmond, CA.; Miss Minnie L. Fields, of 701 Chestnut Street, and Mrs. Carl E. Wharton, who lives a short distance north of the city. Two of the children, Arthur Fields and Mrs. Rosa Wharton, are not living. Mrs. Fields leaves 15 grandchildren. She attended services regularly at Buffalo Church and was actively interested it its program.
