Jessie McNeil was born in Missouri (location being researched) in 1882.

Discrepancy: Jessie's birth date (although showing as July 18- Eugene Register Guard Obit., shows as July 13, 1882 on her Death Certificate.) This is the date I am using.

She met her husband and soon to be father of her children, James M. McNeil, and married (June 5, 1901) at her mother's home in Portland where she had lived with her parents, Jesse Russel Craig and Nancy Moore Craig (her father had passed away in 1898). Shortly after, they moved to the southern Willamette Valley region of Lane County Oregon to start their family by about 1902 or so.

Mrs. McNeil was mother to the following children:

Brinton Wallace McNeil (eldest)
Elsie E. McNeil
Lilly McNeil (Lillie)
James McNeil (Jamie)
Winnie Clare (Clair) McNeil (no census records)
Clyde W. McNeil
Hubert B. McNeil
Agnes V. McNeil

Note: Brinton was named after Jessie's older brother Brinton who died very young at just 33 years old.

The McNeil's farmed in several locations of the lush fertile rural country adjoining Eugene during Jessie's life-time, but at the time of her death, Mrs. McNeil and her family lived in the West Moreland area of Eugene on Spencer Butte. It was at this locale that Jessie had a pet deer.

Jessie McNeil passed away at just 48 years old on Sunday morning at her home surrounded by her family. Her sojourn on this earth was 48 Years, 6 Months, and 23 Days. She had become ill on February 2 from Bronchial Pneumonia and passed away on February 8 at 7:15 A.M.

Media sources state Mrs. McNeil, "is survived by her husband, James M. McNeil; two daughters, Mrs. Lillie Morford of Springfield and Miss Agnes McNeil, at home; four sons, Brinton McNeil, of Coburg, Clyde McNeil, Hubert McNeil, both of Motor Route 3, and Jamie (James) McNeil, Salem; and one sister, Mrs. Julie Craig McNeil, who lives at Powers, Oregon."

Mrs. Jessie Rose Craig McNeil had the following siblings:

John W.
Ina S.
Eliza J.
Brinton W.
Robert W.
Carrie I.
Julie L.

Mrs. McNeil was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, her funeral was at the Branstetter Chapel, on Wednesday, February 11, 1931, at 2:00 P.M.

Burial was at the Old I. O. O. F. Cemetery at Eugene

Discrepancy on Birth Date:
(July 13 and 18) Death Cert. and Obituary
