Jack R. Claiborne, 79, of 1371 Hampton way, died Saturday, Jan. 18.
Born in Piper, Kan., he moved to Oregon at the age of 16 and resided in Portland most of his life. He was a railroad engineer for Union Pacific Railroad and moved to Woodburn in 1966 shortly before he retired. He was a member of the Alberta Masonic Lodge in Portland and United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of Woodburn; daughter, Betty J. Nichols of Dallas; sister, Ada Lieber of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and one granddaughter.
No formal services will be held. Private entombment will be at Rose City Mausoleum in Portland. Contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children or charity of choice.
