It is with deep regret we inform you of the death of our chief, Wm. Claiborne, a charter member of Local No. 470, who died January 1, 1938, of a heart attack. Chief Claiborne was a very successful chief, having served on the department 16 years and was chief for the past 8-1/2 years, during which time he served as president of the Indiana Fire Chief's Association, and was a member of the Indiana Firemen's Association.

The funeral services of Chief Claiborne were held January 4, with the Indiana Firemen's Association holding ritualistic services, which were given by Chaplain Coon in his usual efficient way, and was well represented by firemen from all over the state of Indiana.
