VALLEY - Mrs. Avis Duffee, 79, of Valley died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at her residence.
Funeral services are planned for Thursday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Rusty Letson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Duffee is survived by her children, Debrah Wills of Lanett, Diane Patterson of Opelika, Wanda Gilbert of Valley, Marlene Sparks of Texas, Danny Patterson of Kentucky and Dwayne Patterson and Kevin Piper of Cusseta; a sister, Myrtle Chastin of Helen, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Born Feb. 28, 1934, in Hiawassee, Ga., Mrs. Duffee was the daughter of the late Homer Alston and Mable Osborn Alston. She grew up in Helen but had lived in the Valley area most of her life. Mrs. Duffee was a former employee of the Lanier-Carter Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Duffee.
Flowers will be accepted. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
