Nola Blailock, 98, died Friday, September 2, 2011 in a local nursing center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4th at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel in Merkel with Bill Basket officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Nola was born September 7, 1912 in Stephenville to Thomas James and Betty Estelle (Watson) Knight. She married Robert Blailock January 18, 1936 in Sweetwater. He preceded her in death February 1, 2001. Nola was a member of Baker Heights Church of Christ in Abilene. She was a loving mother, homemaker and wonderful cook. She enjoyed caring for children in her home, making ceramics and doing yard work. She also loved to travel with her husband.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Betty Rhynes and husband Theldon of Abilene, Joyce Elam and husband James of Abilene, Bobbie Belanger of Ft. Worth; 2 brothers, Oscar Knight and wife Jackie of Granbury, Albert Knight of Garland; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters; 4 brothers; son, Eddy and husband, Robert.
