"Bettye Estelle Watson Knight, 97, died Wednesday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Merken Church of Christ with Larry Gill officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Born in Erath County, she moved from Rotan to Merkel in 1943. she atended school in Huckabay. She was a homemaker, a member of the Merkel Church of Christ and the widow of Tom Knight.
Survivors include four sons, Clyde Knight of Crowley, Albert Knight of Garland, O.R. Knight of Granbury, and B.J. Knight of Abilene; three daughters, Nola Blailock of Cisco and Ruby M. Moody and Jessie Jacobs, both of Merkel; 24 grandchildren. 57 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren."
