Obituary - Merkel, Texas -
"T. J. Knight, 60, resident of West Texas for the past 20 years, died today at his home at 12:35 p.m. He had suffered a heart attack last Thursday.
A native Texan, Mr. Knight was born at Waxahachie, Nov. 23, 1885 and was married to the former Bettie Watson Dec. 12, 1907 at Stephenville.
After moving to Hermleigh about 3 years ago, Mr. Knight had retired in April of 1945 after operating a cafe for about a year.
Survivors include the widow, six sons and three daughters. Sons are Sgt. Clyde Knight, now with the Army Air Forces in Germany; Coy, of Snyder; Albert and Delbert, both of Mineral Wells; Oscar, a freshman at Texas Tech, and Billie Joe, a freshman at Merkel high school.
Daughters are Mrs. J. P. Hale, Hermleigh; Mrs. R. E. Blaylock, Sweetwater; and Mrs. J. C. Jacobs, Merkel.
Funeral services will be conducted at Barrow-Sheppard Funeral Chapel Monday at 3:30 p.m. by Claude C. Smith, Church of Christ pastor, and internment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery."

Tom is the son of William Knight and Ann Chenault.
