David Eugene Clarkson was the 5th and youngest child of Charles 'Eugene' and Eva (Nash) Clarkson. He was born and raised in his parents home on Wing Street in Northville, Michigan.
In January 1905 David moved to Los Angeles. His sister Flora had moved out in 1904 and David's mother made many trips back and forth.
David Married Hortense McKenzie on April 4, 1910 in Los Angeles. They lived in Los Angeles until the 1920's when they moved to Alhambra.
David worked as a conductor of Street-cars and later as an express messenger for American Express Co. and the Railroad.
