BORGER - George H. Andress, 53, of 405 W. Grand, a prominent Borger businessman died at 12:30 p.m. today as result of a bullet wound in the chest. He was found this morning lying along Farm Road 1319.

He was taken to North Plains Hospital.

W.R. Kelsey, an employe of Phillips Petroleum Co., told sheriff's officers he had found Andress near a fence line 3 miles west of Texas 136 about 10 a.m.

A .38 caliber pistol identified as one owned by Andress was found near the wounded man's feet. Andress' car was parked nearby with the engine running.

Kelsey said Andress told him he was shooting rabbits before he lapsed into unconsciousness.

Kelsey notified his office in Borger by radio, and the sheriff's unit and an ambulance were dispatched.

A medical spokesman said the bullet apparently traveled completely through the man's body.

Andress owned and operated a drive-in restaurant and other properties in Borger.
