Kenneth W. Jonakin, 87, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at his home.

A World War II Army veteran, he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and retired from DuPont after 31 years of service. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael; parents, Seisel N. and Pearl J. Jonakin; and brother, Seisel N. Jonakin Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Christine B. Jonakin; daughter, Joy Jonakin Park, of Chattanooga; son, Steven K. Jonakin, of Salem, Va.; grandson Andrew Park; brother, Robert E. Jonakin, of Chattanooga; sister, Patricia Worsham, of Oak Ridge; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial serviced will be held at a latter date.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, Social Circle, Chattanooga, or Hospice of Chattanooga.
