Ernest E. Stoops, age ninety-four of Rural Route 1, Rossville, Indiana, died at 1:33 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 1988, in Saint Joseph Hospital and Health Center in Kokomo, Indiana.
Born on June 26, 1894, in Tipton County, he was a son of Irvin and Martha Peters Stoops.
In 1912, he married Edith Ethel Christy, who passed away in 1929.
On October 3, 1932, he married Lydia Alice Christy, who died April 15, 1977.
Surviving are two sons: Wayne Stoops of Albany, Oregon an Olas Stoops of Frankfort, Indiana; four daughters: Mrs. Cletis (Juanita) Zook of Rossville, Indiana; Mrs. Marvin (Lois) Click of Brownsburg; Mrs. Robert (Iola) Rodgers of Niles, Michigan; and Mrs. Raymond (Gladys) Unger of Sedalia, Indiana; twenty-eight grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren. Two sons; four brothers; and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was a resident of the Geetingsville, Indiana area since 1927. He was a member of the Geetingsville Presbyterian Church, the Beard Masonic Lodge 641, F & AM, Beard Order of Eastern Starr; Moose Lodge 1529 at Lafayette, Indiana.
Services will be at two p.m. on Tuesday at Stout and Son Funeral Home, Russiaville, Indiana with the Reverend Oral Duckworth officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Tipton County. Friends may call from two to nine p.m. on Monday at the Mortuary. A twilight Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
