Olas H. Stoops, 76, Geetingsville, died at 6 p.m. May 4, 2000, in his home.

Mr. Stoops graduated from Rossville High School in 1943, and retired from Richard Huffer Construction Co. in 1989. He was a mechanic in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945, and was a member of Rossville United Methodist Church. He had lived in Lafayette several years.

He was born February 14, 1924, near Kokomo, to Ernest E. and Ethel E. (Christy) Stoops. He married Carole Ann Biggs on November 9, 1957, and she died April 11, 1997.

Surviving are two sons, Sheldon H. "Butch" of Mulberry and Andrew H. of Forest; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Ava) Melton of Bedford, PA, and Mrs. Steve (Avonne) Krug of Lafayette; a brother, Wayne of Albany, Oregon; a sister, Mrs. Cletus (Juanita) Zook of Rossville; a step-sister, Mrs. Raymond (Gladys) Unger of Sedalia; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A son preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Rossville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rex Charles officiating.

Burial will be in Geetingsville Cemetery.
