PFC. JAMES E. RUSSELL -- Services for PFC. James E. Russell, 27, who died in action September 4, 1944, near Avrieux, France, will be at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. A member of the 8th Infantry, he was killed as he led his patrol through a mortar and machine-gun barrage to save a platoon. He posthumously was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star. Before entering the Army, he was employed at the Indiana Arsenal, Charlestown. Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Russell, 310 Ridgeway; four brothers, PFC. Paul Russell, Fort Monmouth, N.J.; Joseph F. Russell, Silver Spring, Md.; John M. Russell, and George Russell, and two sisters, Mrs. Guy Falcone, Washington, and Mrs. Louis Block.
