COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY – 03/30/2008
STONE - Elizabeth Russell Block, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 on her 93rd birthday. She was a resident of Treyton Oak Towers and a member of the First Unitarian Church. Mrs. Stone was the founder of the Thomas Jefferson Pre-School, where she directed and taught for several years. She was also an artist and received many awards for her paintings. She was a former member of the Louisville Woman's Club, the Crane House, the Speed Museum, the League of Women Voter's. She was preceded by Dr. Louis Block, her husband of 50 years, and Mr. Robert Stone, both of Louisville. She is survived by her son, Curtis James Block; and two stepsons, Steven & Richard Block; five grandchildren, Joanie Thomas Graham, Travis J. Block, Heather Block Artman, Rebecca Ryan Block and Elizabeth Jean Block; and six great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Stone will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Oak Room at Treyton Oak Towers, 211 W. Oak St., Louisville. Expressions are requested to your favorite charity. Arrangements entrusted to Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home.
