Vivian, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Jimmie Ray Cox, age 74, of Vivian, La will be held at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home-Vivian Chapel with Rev. Chad Mills pastor of First Baptist Church Oil City officiating. Interment will follow in the Evans-Richie Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Vivian, on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm.

Mr. Cox was born on August 9, 1935 in Harmon, La and passed away on February 8, 2010 at the Grace Home in Shreveport, La after a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of Vivian most of his life, was a retired Lab Technician for U.O.P. with 35 years of service, member of the Vivian Masonic Lodge and his favorite past time was playing golf and dominoes. Mr. Cox had been attending Fellowship Baptist Church in Benton, La and also First Baptist Church in Oil City, La.

His wife, Gayle Allison Cox of Vivian, La, two sons, Marshall Cox and his wife, Michelle of Shreveport, La and Terry Cox of Bossier City, La, survives Mr. Cox. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amy Michelle Lipscomb and husband, Gary of Blanchard, La, Sarah Joanne Lawley and husband, Jared of Houston, Tx, Barry Lee Cox of Oil City, La and Jacob Cox and wife, Alisha of Shreveport, La, two sisters, Dottie Stanfield of Vivian, La and Dorothy Eames of Ferriday, La., 2 very special children, Daniel and Kaleigh Bradley of Blanchard,La.

Pallbearers for the service will be Barry Cox, Jacob Cox, Stacey Beck, Gary Lipscomb, Donnie Bradley, Jr and Tommy Penniger.

Jimmie was proceeded in death by his first wife Joanne Whatley Cox on December 3, 1981. She is the mother of Marshall O'Neal and Terry Lynn Cox.
