She was born on April 9, 1922, the daughter of Humphrey and Jessica (O'Roak) Wooden in Hill Township, Carroll County. On June 18, 1938 she married Nelson Edward Barron. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1996.
Una was a homemaker and worked for a number of years at Boss Mfg. Co. in Chillicothe. In 1958 Nelson and she built a dairy barn where she milked 50-60 cows twice per day until retiring.
Una was a member of the Enon Baptist Church of Dawn. She loved music, playing her guitar and singing. She was a devoted wife, mother and "Granny." She was "Granny" to everyone who knew her lovely blue eyes and smile.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Barron, Dawn and Ted and wife Laura, Norborne; three daughters, Peggy Stratton and husband Gary, Braymer, Patsy Corbin and husband Bobbie, Dawn and Dorene Hussey and husband Lonnie, Kansas City; one sister, Neva Corf, Chillicothe; one sister-in-law, Letha Whitney, Cameron; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers, John, Leo, Henry, Jackie, Buford, Jimmy, Lloyd, Leslie, and Harold; two sisters, Nadine Trussell and Kathleen Jenks; one son-in-law, Robert Kirkendoll; one grandson Kent Kirkendoll and one great-grandson, Timothy Corbin.
Services were held at the Enon Baptist Church in Dawn on Saturday, Oct. 24 with burial in the Enon Cemetery in Dawn.
Memorial contributions may be made to Enon Baptist Church and /or Enon Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
