Florence Irene Zentz, age 90, of Manhattan, died February 2, 2010, in Manhattan.

She was born January 16, 1920, in Clay Center, Kansas, the eighth child born to Charles Henry and Frances Olive (Kipp) Harrison. She had been a Manhattan area resident for 51 years.

Mrs. Zentz had worked for Manhattan Meat Company, as a meat cutter at R & G Market and for 17 years in food service at Kansas State University as a baker.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, and a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She was a wonderful farm wife and canned a lot of the food that the family would eat the rest of the year.

On June 23, 1941, in Beatrice, Nebraska, she was married to Raymond Leroy Zentz. He preceded her in death on December 21, 1996. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Ekstrum and her husband Gelvin; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Zentz, one great-granddaughter, Tracie Argo; and by three brothers and seven sisters: Leo, Norma, Alvin, Margaret, Lucy, Don, Ruth, Gertrude, Vera and June.

Survivors include her five sons: Larry Zentz and his wife Jin of Manhattan, Alvin Zentz and his wife Linda of Ritzville, Washington, Garry Zentz and his wife Linda of West Des Moines, Iowa. Marvin Zentz and his wife Ok Ye of Manhattan, and Don Zentz of Akron, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Grace Baptist Church in Manhattan with Pastor Bob Flack officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

The family of Mrs. Zentz will receive friends from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM Friday at the Grace Baptist Church prior to the service.
