Herman was the son of Carl and Friedericka Sterdt Prinz. He was the brother to Willie , Alvina Werchan and Ida Mahlow. He married Ida Altmann Prinz on November 20, 1900 in Williamson County, Texas and their children were Dora Hees, Sophie Riemanschneider, Viola Pfeil Lorine Gamble, Andrew and Arthur Heinrich Carl.
