He married Mary Alice Horn on 16 June 1879. Mary was born on 14 October 1859 and died on 27 August 1945 in York. In 1910 Silas and Mary lived at 333 Locust Street in York. Silas was a chain maker.

Word was received by relatives here today of the death of Silas J Fahs, 72 who died at the home of his son, Ralph Fahs in York, Pa, late Monday afternoon. Mr. Fahs was known to a large circle of friends through frequent visits to Mansfield.
He is survived by two brothers, William Fahs, Mansfield, and Floyd Fahs, Crestline, and three sisters, Mrs. F. W. Miller. Mansfield. Mrs. B. Charles near Lucas, and Mrs. Louis Etz, Pavonia.
Funeral services will be held in York at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be made there."
