He married Nancy Jane Snider on 26 Dec 1872 in Decatur, Macon, Illinois. They had 6 children, namely, Zinetta Ruth, Jesse, Earl, Irene Edna, James Marion and Laura (Bell) Mae.
He was President of Decatur Lumber & Mfg Co, Decatur, Macon, Illinois around 1880.

Friends and relatives of Frank M. Gaddis were greatly shocked Sunday evening when a telegram was received announcing his death in Xenia, O. sometime Sunday. Mr. Gaddis was on a visit to relatives here only a few months ago and was in apparently good health. A letter was received from there last Tuesday that he was not looking well, although he showed no signs of sickness. Mr. Gaddis was reared in Decatur and several years ago was President of the Decatur Lumber Company. From here he went to Xenia, O. where he bought a farm. Besides a wife, three daughters and a son, he leaves three brothers in Decatur: Adlaste, Clinton and Wesley Gaddis and a sister, Mrs. Willis Mills, Wilmington, O. The body will be brought here for burial and if Mrs. Gaddis has not arranged differently, the funeral will probably be held Wednesday from the Grace Methodist church. Mr. Gaddis was sixty-five years old.

The body of Frank M. Gaddis, who died at Wilmington, Ohio, arrived in Decatur at 9 o'clock Tuesday night over the C. H. & D. Accompanied by the members of the family. The body was taken to the home at 533 S Webster Street. Mr. Gaddis death was caused by uremic poisoning.
The funeral was held at Grace Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon. Beaumanoir Commander No 9, Knights Templar, formed in special conclave at 2 o'clock and escorted the body to the church. R. Augustine was Eminent Commander, Rev. J. W. Van Cleve prelate and General Frank P. Wells in charge of the lines.
A brief service was conducted by Rev. J. W. Van Cleve, followed by the regular exercises of the Knights Templar. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Miss Maude Burke, Mrs. H. W. McHose, J. Sherman McClelland and Arthur Van Cleve. There was a large attendance and many beautiful floral tributes.
Pallbearers were: Milton Johnson Sr, S. D. May, G.A. Stagler, J. Sherman McClelland, John Mattes, W. H. Starr. Interment was in Greenwood with the Knights Templar Honors.
