Mahlon Cooper, 65, died today at his home on Third Ave. in New Cumberland following a nine months illness. Mr. Cooper was born at Ben's Run, W.Va., March 29, 1885, a son of Hudson and Lucy Smith Cooper. He resided in New Cumberland for 42 years and was last employed as a mine foreman for the W. VA. Fire Clay Co. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Lulu Mae McClelland Cooper, two daughters, Mrs. Sophie Schmidbaur of East Liverpool and Mrs. Marjorie Mechling of New Cumberland, a son Ernest L. Cooper of Weirton and nine grandchildren. Rites will be held in the late home Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Allen S. Fields of the Christian Church. Burial will be in New Cumberland Cemetery.
