A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband of Brenda S. Cole and son of the late Willie Clayton and Thelma Workman Cole.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was founder of Cole's Welding.
Mr. Cole was a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church. A Master Mason in Lafayette Lodge No. 186 in Gaffney, he was a member of the Hejaz Temple and a Shiner with the Cherokee Shrine Club.
Burial will follow at Wisher Cemetery in Blacksburg.
